Surah Ar-Rahman by Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad My Father, Muhammad Younus Farooq whom we affectionately called ‘Abba Jan’ was born on July 2, 1925 in a small village called Nagapur in Aurangabad, India. He traveled the World. He was in the British Army in World War I & II. He encountered live sharks in the Atlantic Ocean as his ship sank where he was a Radio Officer. He survived two airplane crashes while he worked for Pakistan International Airlines, again as a Radio Officer. He was a devote Ahmadi Muslim and he dedicated his life in the study of Islam and the spread of Islam and Ahmadiyat. He was a dedicated father and husband who raised ten kids who all turned out to be decent law-abiding citizens and good parents themselves. There were times when Abba Jan struggled hard in life yet he never gave up. He was cheated by others but he maintained full faith in Allah Almighty and kept on trying. He was a very honest man who always returned the money he borrowed from others. He worked for Pakistan International Airlines for 20 years. He started as a Radio Officer and moved on to become Scheduling Officer. He was a risk taker and a true entrepreneur. He started a credit/loan company. He owned and operated an Electronics store named ‘Al Farooq Electronics’ in Society Area of Karachi, Pakistan. He got into wholesale business of reselling onions. He sold life insurance as a full time job. Though none of his business adventures succeeded, he kept trying. Here’s a glimpse of his early life in Nagapur:
